Red Wheels Turning features some pretty amazing machines. Whatever science fiction or steampunk writers have come up with, the Russians came up with first. The aviation was pretty astounding, but some of the naval technology was also impressive. The Russians developed a 12″ naval gun that found its way onto some pretty impressive battleships, deployed in triple turrets. This gun was accurate in the right hands, going up against the Goeben (when she was part of the Turkish navy) and frightening her away.

Not every Russian invention was as sensible or as effective. This might have worked:
